  • Strategy and Operations Manager

    At Checkatrade, we're committed to empowering trades to connect with homeowners and grow their customer base. As we continue to expand our platform and enhance our offerings, we are seeking a visionary Strategy and Operations Manager to lead the development of Checkatrade’s new advertising products. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation, shape the future of advertising within our ecosystem, and unlock new growth opportunities for our company. We have and exciting five-year plan that will see us grow ten-fold, you'll play a key part! Sound good?

    Location: King's Cross, London. Hybrid working applies. 4 days in the office minimum.

    Where do you fit in?

    • Define & execute the product strategy for new advertising solutions, including digital display ads, sponsored listings, and other new media products.
    • Conduct market research & user insights to identify opportunities, refine product-market fit, and develop compelling ad solutions that drive value for both advertisers and homeowners.
    • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, collaborating closely with engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams.
    • Develop pricing models & monetization strategies that balance revenue generation with marketplace health and user experience.
    • Optimize ad performance & user engagement through continuous experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making.
    • Partner with commercial teams to help enable go-to-market execution, advertiser onboarding, and scalable adoption of new media products.

    What do you need to succeed?

    • Experience: In consulting, product management, start-up environment (ad tech and/or digital marketing).
    • Strategic thinking & vision – ability to define a compelling product strategy, set clear priorities, and balance short-term wins with long-term impact.
    • User-centric mindset – deep empathy for customers, with a data-driven approach to understanding user needs, pain points, and behaviours.
    • Analytical & data-driven approach – strong ability to interpret data, extract insights, and make informed decisions that drive product success based on experimentation.
    • Technical acumen – comfortable working with engineers, designers, and data teams to scope solutions, assess feasibility, and make trade-off decisions.
    • Cross-functional leadership – experience working across teams (engineering, design, marketing, sales) to align stakeholders and drive collaboration.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset – resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable taking risks, experimenting, and iterating in a fast-paced environment.
    • Customer & market awareness – ability to track industry trends, understand competitive landscapes, and identify opportunities for differentiation.
    • Communication & storytelling – ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, whether in product specs, stakeholder meetings, or executive updates.
    • Execution & ownership – a bias for action with the ability to take an idea from concept to launch, navigating complexity and ambiguity along the way.
