We have a new opportunity at Checkatrade for a Android Engineer to join our vision of making home improvements easy by simplifying the journey and providing support throughout the whole process. You will be key in helping us deliver a best-in-class native app and building features to connect consumers with tradespeople and the tools to make home improvements easy.
Location: Kings Cross, London or Portsmouth. Hybrid working.
Where do you fit in?
We’re looking for an Android Engineer with 2+ years of experience under their belt working in a product development team. You’ll be a key player in our Android app development journey and at the forefront of creating cutting-edge features that redefine user experiences. With a focus on quality, you’ll build robust solutions and maintain an automated test suite that sets new standards in reliability. You'll be happy working in autonomous teams to deliver high quality features, ensuring adherence to platform standards and advocating for consistency across the board. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders such as the Product Development team where you’ll lend your expertise to ensure that every feature is not just well-designed but also technically feasible. What do you need to succeed?
- 2+ years experience as an Android Developer – you’re passionate about the platform and want to deliver apps that feel at home.
- Experience working in a Product Development team – you love collaborating with different folks to build what’s right for our customers.
- Experience writing Android applications using Jetpack Compose. You like to keep things simple and elegant.
- Experience writing automated tests for Android applications – You know how to prove your code is correct
- Experience writing documentation – you know what others need to know and can keep it current as things change
Interview process:
Our interview process consists of two stages: an initial conversation with the hiring manager, followed by a second stage featuring a paired-programming technical exercise.
