About The Role

Marketplace Operations (Category Management)

Checkatrade - The trusted foundation of every home

Checkatrade’s mission is to be the trusted foundation of every home by connecting people with the trades and tools to make home improvements easy. To accelerate our growth, we have an exciting newly created opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager to join the Marketplace Operations team with a focus on Category Management.  You’ll be developing and executing category management strategies to optimise platform job allocation and completion. You’ll work to balance supply and demand across both sides of the marketplace (B2B and B2C) and identify current gaps and opportunities to act upon. You’ll work closely with product, data, marketing, and sales teams to align category strategies with business goals and customer expectations. If your background is a blend of strategy and execution with a track record in two-sided marketplaces, we’d love to hear from you. Sound good? Get in touch!

Location: Kings Cross, London. Hybrid working applies with 4 days in the office minimum.

Where do you fit in?

Reporting to the Marketplace Director, you’ll play a key role in defining and implementing category management frameworks to improve business performance. This includes working very closely with cross-functional teams to ensure we provide exceptional value to our customers whilst growing revenue and profitability. You'll be involved in process design and optimization, ensuring we have the right toolkit of proven category management levers in place to address supply and demand gaps. You’ll work with stakeholders across the business to ensure successful adaptation across the business and maintain a close feedback loop. You’ll also define KPIs to measure the success of the marketplace health and regularly report on results. Do you have a passion for driving results? If so, this is the role for you!

What’s in it for you?

  • A greenfield project with the immediate scope to impact our marketplace capability and bottom line.
  • A fast-moving scale-up business, with committed investors, ambitious plans, and a clear roadmap on how we get there.
  • An excellent salary and benefits package that includes an annual bonus scheme, car allowance, private medical, and much more.

We are an equal opportunities employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Degree in Business/Economics, STEM, or similar. You'll couple this with a proven track record of operational and analytical experience gained in a marketplace business, big tech, or top-tier consulting firm.
  • Talented at simplifying the complex, you’ll distil complex marketplace dynamics into clear actions whilst bringing your stakeholders along with you.
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking whilst ensuring flawless execution with a strong bias for action.
  • Experienced in designing robust experiments, measuring adoption, and engagement on new products and processes.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Excel for everyday analysis, and ideally some low-code/no-code/AI-enabled automation tools to 10-100x processes.
