About The Role

Principal Product Manager – Payments

Experienced in creating payment products? Eager to make your mark?

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to build and maintain a new Payments platform. Having payments embedded on our platform plays a huge part in Checkatrade's goal of developing a full end-to-end marketplace. You’ll act as the subject matter expert for all payment related activity including fraud management. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your experience to deliver a best-in-class platform range of payment process. You’ll set the vision and engage our engineers on delivery. You’ll join us at an exciting time with a top-leadership team on board and an ambitious five-year plan that will see us growing ten-fold. You’ll get to lead on this critical greenfield product! If this excites you and you’ve got the background to match. We’d love for you to get in touch! Could this be you?

Location: London or Portsmouth. Hybrid working applies. Minimum 3 days in office.

Where do you fit in?

Our mission is to be the trusted foundation of every home. Why? Because safe and happy homes matter. To drive this, we are building a marketplace that will change the face of home improvements forever. You’ll report to the Product Director creating a payment strategy and developing a prioritised roadmap. You’ll build a framework for working with Product and Commercial teams across both sides of the platform. This will enable us to capitalise on new product offerings and revenue opportunities. You’ll become a payments and fraud SME sharing your deep technical understanding of payments product alongside your customer experience. Our future is bright, and we are investing in innovation. You’ll lead the way in ensuring we stay on top of trends and how new technologies and financial tools could be leveraged to deliver added value.

We are an equal opportunities employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

What’s in it for you?

  • A business investing in advanced tools and technologies. You’ll own the payments platform and all the potential it comes with.
  • A passionate business with a community of product, engineering, and commercial teams around you. Let’s be bold and get it done!
  • A transformational opportunity. We are digitising a largely offline sector. You could be part of making home improvements easy.
  • An excellent benefits package, including a bonus scheme, an electrical vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, private medical plus much more.

What do you need to succeed?

  • You’ll be an experienced Product Manager with a background in developing payment platforms and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • You’ll have an in-depth knowledge of the payments industry, including emerging trend and technologies (payment networks and banking rails).
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines including wider product, engineering, commercial and legal.
  • You’ll be strategic yet hands on with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • We love data. So do you!
  • You’ll be fast paced, resilient and have the ability to simplify the complex.
