Senior Content Designer

We have an exciting opportunity for a experienced Senior Content Designer to join our business User Experience Team. We are on a mission to craft exceptional user experiences, playing an instrumental role in shaping the future of Checkatrade. We are looking for motivated, passionate Senior Content Designer to join our user experience community as we grow our team.  You’ll partner with our Product & Design team to translate goals into content strategy and copy that helps users with frictionless experiences. Location: Kings Cross, London. Hybrid working applies with 3 days in the office minimum.

Where do you fit in?

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Content Designer to work with our team of designers, product managers, researchers and developers. You’ll be shaping strategy to evolve content for our products. Reporting to the Head of UX, your responsibilities are as follows:

  • Work with the Head of UX & Head of Brand Marketing to co-create the content strategy and roadmap for web and app.
  • Apply your expertise by serving as a subject-matter expert in UX writing, content design, user-centred content.
  • Partner with Product & Design team to translate goals into content strategy and copy that helps users with frictionless experiences.
  • Scope and prioritise work across projects to balance tactical and strategic efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure product strategy (e.g OKRs, PRDs) maintains a focus on users from a content perspective.
  • Propose design solutions rooted in UX writing and content design that are customer need focused.
  • Partner and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., brand, marketing and legal) to align and generate business impact.
  • Continually work to evolve our content standards for accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Advise and support content and design colleagues by creating guidelines for design system modules and tooling.
  • Plan, conduct, and analyse user research to gain deep insights into user behaviours, preferences, and pain points.
  • Effectively present to stakeholders, creative narrative, guiding them through the approval process and demonstrating the value of Content Design.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience working as a senior content designer in an agile Product environment.
  • Proven experience with defining cross functional content roadmaps, both tactical and strategical.
  • Ability to define, design, and create content-focused user experiences, such as frameworks and patterns that help content scale, ensure quality, and deliver information for specific user needs and markets.
  • Ability to craft intuitive user-facing language, effective information hierarchy, and scalable frameworks.
  • Proven experience in UX Research methodologies.
  • Experience designing within brand standards and design systems.
  • You’re influential, inspiring, and able to work with others in a culture that values autonomy and empowerment.
  • You have experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are comfortable navigating complexity and can prioritise work across multiple teams.
  • Experience utilising wireframing/prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Axure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
