We have an exciting opportunity for an ACA/ACCA/ICAEW/CIMA qualified Principal Commercial Finance Manager to join us. You’ll work closely with the business leaders to deliver on our mission to become ‘The trusted foundation of every home’. Location: Kings Cross, London or Portsmouth, Hampshire. Hybrid working applies alongside travel between the offices. For London candidates, the expectation is to be in Portsmouth 2-3 times per month.
Where do you fit in?
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in balancing short term departmental results against long term, cross-departmental goals. You’ll drive value creation and have an entrepreneurial mindset for all aspects of the P&L, running it as if it were your own business. You’ll drive top line growth, prioritise marketing investments and deliver efficiencies in the cost base. Additionally, you’ll have a sharp focus on cash and capital allocation. You'll use investment criteria (Payback, ROI, IRR, NPV etc.) to identify the ideas to pursue and those to be dropped. You'll be the finance ‘owner’ of Checkatrade’s value proposition and monetisation models. This includes picking product ‘winners’ and making the case for ways to monetise consumer demand most successfully for our paying members. You’ll inspire and lead a team of four Commercial Finance Business Partners setting a high bar of expectation whilst developing future business leaders.

What do you need to succeed?
- ACA/ACCA/ICAEW or CIMA qualified Head of Commercial Finance with a track record of driving growth.
- You'll have experience in a similar fast paced marketplace or technology organisation.
- You'll have an entrepreneurial mindset for all aspects of the P&L.
- Advanced financial modelling skills and sound technical experience across Excel and PowerBI or similar.
- Excellent people skills – you'll be credible and influential with a consultative and collaborative approach that engages teams and leaders alike.
