Digital Community Executive – 6 month Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for a Digital Community Executive to join our passionate marketing team. You’ll be responsible for engaging with Checkatrade’s 90,000-strong online community, in turn helping the business to manage its reputation through both reactive and proactive online engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in an ambitious digital marketplace striving for growth. 

Location: Based either in Kings Cross, London or Portsmouth, Hampshire. Hybrid working applies – 2 days being in the office, 3 days working from home.  


Where do you fit in?

Reporting to Head of External Communications, you will manage the business’s reputation, through both reactive and proactive online engagement. You’ll be networking within our online community – providing friendly banter to entertain and engage, while also offering support and guidance to members and homeowners when it is needed. You’ll be responding to online customer enquiries, working closely with our in-house customer service team to problem solve complaints. You’ll be aiding brand reputation by keeping track of conversations within Checkatrade’s online social community and creating a positive narrative to counter any negative stories or comments. Liaising with Checkatrade’s in house PR team you will respond to high-level social media issues quickly using the businesses tone of voice. Additionally, you will develop and maintain relationships with other marketing and company departments and provide support to the wider brand team as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

  • GCSE’s at Grade C / Level 4 or above including English and Maths.
  • Solid judgement of risk and reputation, with instinctive emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and with very active community channels.
  • Understanding of what makes a great social media story – both positive and negative.
  • Strong people and networking skills – confident to speak to people at all levels.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and brilliant attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in a PR, customer service, social media or online customer care role.
